How to edit a PDF online, free

  1. 1

    Open your PDF

Drag the file onto the box above, or browse for it. Nothing is uploaded for basic edits — the file is read in your browser.

  2. 2

    Edit and annotate

Add text, highlight, underline, draw, drop in shapes, arrows and sticky notes. Undo anything you change your mind about.

  3. 3

    Download it

Save the edited PDF straight back to your device. No watermark, no page limit, no account.

A free PDF editor with no sign up

Most “free” online PDF editors are free until the download button, then ask for an account, stamp a watermark across the page or cap you at three documents a day. This one does not. There is no login wall in front of the editor, no watermark on what you export and no limit on how many pages your document has.

Annotation, text boxes, highlighting, drawing and shapes all run locally in your browser, so for those edits your file never leaves your device. It works the same on a phone as it does on a desktop — the toolbar collapses to a bottom bar and the page still pinches and zooms.

Editing the text already inside a PDF, and true redaction that removes content from the file rather than drawing a black box over it, need server-side processing and live in Pro. Everything listed above stays free.
