Coming Soon: AI Editing Inside Your PDF

Editing a PDF today means doing the thinking yourself. You read the paragraph, decide what it should say, then retype it. You copy a page into a translator and paste the result back. You scan a contract line by line looking for the account number someone forgot to remove. The tools handle the mechanics; the work is still all yours.

That's what we're changing. AI editing is in build for PDF Raven Pro — select a passage on the page, tell it what you want, and the change happens in the document itself. Here's what it will do.

Rewrite a passage in place

Highlight any text already inside the PDF and ask for a different version: shorter, plainer, more formal, friendlier. The rewritten wording goes back into the page where the original was — same position, matched font and size — because Pro already edits the real text in the file rather than pasting a text box on top of it. No retyping, no reflow surprises, no exporting to Word and back.

It is the piece we expect people to reach for most: tightening a clause, de-jargoning a policy paragraph, or fixing a sentence that reads badly in a report you were handed at 6pm.

Translate without leaving the page

Pick a paragraph, a section or a whole page and get it back in another language, laid into the document rather than dumped in a separate window. Useful for sending a signed agreement to a counterpart abroad, sharing a one-pager with a team that doesn't read the source language, or reading a document that arrived in one you don't.

Summarise long documents

Point it at a section — or the whole file — and get the short version: what the document says, what it asks of you, what changed. For a forty-page tender, a lease or a stack of meeting minutes, that is the difference between skimming and actually knowing what you signed.

Ask questions about your PDF

An assistant panel sits beside the page, so you can simply ask: what's the notice period?, which clause covers late payment?, does this mention a penalty? It answers from the document in front of you and shows you where it found the answer, instead of making you hunt with Ctrl+F and hope you guessed the right word.

Find the sensitive details — and truly redact them

This is the one we're most careful about. AI will scan the document for personal and sensitive information — names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, account and ID numbers — and mark every occurrence it finds, so you don't have to spot them yourself across sixty pages. You review the list, keep what should stay, and confirm the rest.

What happens next is the part that matters: redaction in PDF Raven permanently removes the content from the file. Not a black rectangle drawn on top with the text still selectable underneath — the characters and images are deleted from the PDF itself. The AI does the finding; the redaction engine does the removing, exactly as it does today. You stay in control of what gets removed.

What stays the same

It is in active build now. You'll see the AI assistant panel already sitting in the Pro editor marked coming soon — that's the home it will switch on in. We'd rather ship it when the redaction side is genuinely trustworthy than rush a demo, so we're not putting a date on it yet.
